Available Positions

  • Electrical Engineer 1

    Job Overview:

    The Electrical Engineer is part of the sales and fulfillment team that delivers Northern Reliability engineered solutions. The position works with the client, sales engineer and project manager to provide electrical designs for energy storage solutions for the NRI customer solution. After the sales capture, the position is an integral participant in the EPC (Engineer Procure & Construct) design and fulfillment process. The critical function of the electrical engineer is to provide both AC and DC electric engineering solutions to the team. Work is primarily office based out of our Waterbury, Vermont office, using a laptop or desktop, with electrical design and analytical software. However, during system construction and integration, you may be required to travel outside of the office environment and help assemble or troubleshoot a system in the field.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Primary responsibilities include both AC and DC electrical designs and wiring schematics for the NRI battery enclosures and shelters.

    • Design of battery charge and discharge mechanism
    • Work with the sales and applications engineering team to develop proposed concepts and solutions to aid in sales capture process.
    • Upon contract award assist mechanical engineer in preparing general arrangement (GA) designs for customer application, develop single line schematics
    • Oversee development of concept into final solution
    • Prepare electrical engineering designs for fabrication on remote power systems including AC distribution, DC distribution and small system controller power systems
    • Prepare electrical design and assembly drawings for in house fabrication
    • Conduct structural analysis of system assembly to ensure adequate design integrity

    Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

    Qualifications:

    Candidate should have had coursework in or be familiar with electrical engineering principals including the use of software to effect designs. The ideal candidate will possess the following (KSA’s) knowledge skills and abilities:

    • General understanding of renewable energy including AC and DC electricity
    • General understanding of battery chemistry including, charging and discharging scenarios as well as C factor
    • Familiarity with medium voltage design concepts with an emphasis on electrical distribution
    • Familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC) 2017 and earlier relevant versions
    • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers, SEL gear, and system controls
    • Familiarity with Micro-grids, Distributed Generation or Battery Energy Storage desired
    • Familiarity with utility culture desired, safety minded
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings or schematics, or the ability to learn
    • Familiarity with office productivity software, including MS Word, Excel & Power Point
    • Familiarity with design software tools such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Draft-Site
    • Team player, with a desire and willingness to learn
    • Shall be able to lift and carry 25lbs, crawl, or climb.
    • We would like someone experienced however a willingness to learn is paramount

  • Electro Mechanical Technician

    Job Overview:

    The electro mechanical technician is part of the fulfillment team that assembles Northern Reliability engineered solutions. Taking direction from the integration manager the position entails both mechanical and electrical assembly work. Work is primarily inside of our shop, using small hand and power tools in performing subassembly, but you may be asked from time to time to travel outside of the shop environment and help assemble a system in the field.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Primary responsibilities are to build and assemble the SC line of controllers, integrate the controller into the system, test and package the complete system for delivery.

    • Prepare aluminum stock for assembly, by primarily measuring, cutting and drilling
    • Wire cutting, stripping and termination in accordance with electrical schematics
    • Preparing the cabinets for integration.
    • Installing HVAC, and control systems.
    • Installing battery modules and cells
    • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) checks and review
    • Assist with receipt of raw materials. Prepare system for shipping, assist with loading completed system on delivery vehicles.
    • Perform some data entry, which requires the ability to use a computer

    Reports To: Integration Manager

    Qualifications:

    Candidate should be handy with a mechanical aptitude, and have a basic understanding of electricity / renewable energy. The ideal candidate will possess the following (KSA’s) knowledge skills and abilities:

    • One year general work experience in a production environment
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings or schematics, or the ability to learn
    • Basic skill level of office productivity software, including MS Word, Excel & Power Point
    • Basic understanding of renewable energy including AC and DC electricity
    • Some understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) is desirable but not required
    • Team player, with a desire and willingness to learn
    • Able to work in a shop/ production environment
    • Position may require long periods of standing / sitting to accomplish objective
    • Physical abilities should be able to lift and carry 50lbs, crawl, or climb.
    • Completion of high school or trade school education, some college desirable

  • Mechanical Engineer 1

    Job Overview:

    The Mechanical Engineer is part of the sales and fulfillment team that delivers Northern Reliability engineered solutions. The position works with the client, sales engineer and project manager to provide mechanical designs for energy storage solutions for the NRI customer solution. After the sales capture, the position is an integral participant in the EPC (Engineer Procure & Construct) design and fulfillment process. The critical function of the mechanical engineer is to provide both structural and thermal engineering solutions to the solutions team.

    Work is primarily office based and sedentary using a laptop or desktop, with mechanical design and analytical software. During system construction you will be asked to work with the integration leads to solve assembly problems.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Primary responsibilities include both structural and thermal design solutions for NRI battery enclosures and shelters. Design of support assemblies and mounting solutions
    • Work with the sales and applications engineering team to develop proposed concepts and solutions to aid in sales capture process.
    • Upon contract award prepare general arrangement (GA) designs for customer application
    • Oversee development of concept into final solution
    • Prepare mechanical fabrication designs for outside contractor sourcing, and machining
    • Prepare mechanical designs and assembly drawings for in house fabrication
    • Conduct structural analysis of system assembly to ensure adequate design integrity
    • Perform thermodynamic analysis of system designs, including heat rejection, solar gain and supplemental heat sizing
    • Participate in component selection process and procurement
    • Work with team to further develop product line and cost reduction strategy

    Qualifications:

    Candidate should have had coursework in or be familiar with mechanical engineering principals including the use of software to effect designs. The ideal candidate will possess the following (KSA’s) knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Software Engineer

    Job Overview:

    The Software Engineer is part of the design and fulfillment team that delivers Northern Reliability engineered solutions. The position works with the client, controls engineer and project manager to provide operational and control algorithms for the NRI system. The position is an integral participant in the EPC (Engineer Procure & Construct) design and fulfillment process. The critical function of the Software Engineer is to program the SRI series of system controllers which include a PLC, HMI, and embedded RTU. In addition to controller design, you will be asked to further develop data collection methods and transfer architecture. Work is primarily based out of our Waterbury, Vermont office. However, during system construction and integration, you will be required to travel outside of the office environment and help assemble or troubleshoot a system in the field.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Primary responsibilities are to develop features and functionality for the SC line of controllers to include data collection, storage, analytics and visualization and assist with hardware selection.

    • Learn controls interface with EPC components and develop control cause and effect diagrams. Develop overlying control architecture
    • Assist in developing system I/O and data collection points
    • Design controller programs using existing algorithms, to project specifications
    • Work with senior software developers to further refine RTU embedded inside of the SC controller and assist in further development
    • Collaborate with team to further develop data transfer and cloud storage system
    • Perform customer acceptance testing

    Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

    Qualifications:

    Candidate should be familiar with Programmable Logic Controllers , Human Machine Interface devices, and embedded RTUs. The ideal candidate will possess the following (KSAs) knowledge skills and abilities:

    • General understanding of renewable energy including AC and DC circuits
    • Experience with PLC programming, Allen Bradley Connected Components Workbench programming suite desirable
    • Familiarity with programming concepts including the following languages HTML, Python, JavaScript and Linux based operating systems
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics
    • Familiarity with office productivity software, including MS Word, Excel & Power Point
    • Team player, with a desire and willingness to learn
    • Able to lift and carry 25lbs, crawl, or climb.
